It was another fantastic season for HCC 1sts, resulting in the side’s fifth successive league title.
That success can be seen in the season’s averages – both within the club and in the division as a whole.
Lee Bennet led the way with the bat, smashing 343 runs at an average of 57.17, including three half centuries and a top score of 93.
Ian Roberts (39.57), Alex Piper (37.71) and James Hall (31.80) also averaged over 30, while Buttons was the other player to top 300 runs (318).
Those figures mean Bennet also tops the league batting averages, with Robbo in fourth, Alex in fifth, Buttons eleventh and Jacko 15th.
Outside of the top 15, Simon Chapman and Bob Anderson are in 20th and 21st position in the league averages to complete a very strong performance from the 1st XI’s batsmen.
The bowling this season was dominated by four players generally taking (hogging?) ten overs each per game.
Craig Lewis, Ben Mellor, Jonny Grove and Ben Miller captured 133 wickets between them, but the 1sts strength in-depth is shown by Alex Piper sneaking into second place with his 10 wickets coming at just 9.30.
Mellor captured an incredible 55 wickets throughout the season – an HCC record – at an average of 10.15, but it is Lewis who tops the list with 37 wickets at 8.11.
spinner slow bowler also tops the Division 9 chart (minimum 20 wickets).
Mellor is fourth in that list, with easily the most wickets, while Miller is 13th.
